Green Spaces

Greenspaces are the lungs of our community. The parks and Riverside walks and woodlands are an essential element of what makes the town such a great place to live.

Greenspaces are the lungs of our community. The parks and Riverside walks and woodlands are an essential element of what makes the town such a great place to live.

We are working with other community groups, including Natwich in Bloom and the Civic Society, to ensure that the towns greenspaces are protected and planted up for wildlife and people for the future.

We have brought everyone together to create a Greenspaces One Plan – ensuring we are all working towards a common vision, sharing ideas, resources and volunteers to maximise impact.

We are planting wildflowers and hedges, blossom and fruit trees, creating new areas where people can enjoy fresh air and nature at the heart of the town.

For example – in Brookfield Park we have already planted hundreds of metres of wildlife hedgerow, created long now-mow wildflower areas around the margins of the park, planted hundreds of bulbs, sown wildflowers and planted dozens of new trees. We are working to create a nature focused space which linked into the towns River Weaver corridor. Future plans include a natural play area for the kids and a nature focus exercise zone for adults.

Growing Health Community Garden

Sustainable Nantwich also founded the Growing Health Community Garden which provides a growing space for people to encounter the joys of gardening and growing together. It’s a quiet and friendly space where people can find health and well being, a space to relax and take a breather from the madness of an all consuming world.

Coed Wen and Growing Roots

Sustainable Nantwich is a partner growing the town’s Coed Wen Community Woodland. It’s six acres was planted 20 years ago to provide a place for people to bath in benefits of trees.

Now Sustainable Nantwich is also looking for more land around the town to establish a Birth Woodland – planting a tree for every child and every resident in the town. It is all about putting down roots and giving everyone a personal living interest in the future of the town.

We are working to encourage landowners to plant more trees and to “rewild” more areas – providing more space and opportunity for wildlife and nature.
